You won't regret it." - Inside Mac GamesĪvernum 6 is an epic, indie fantasy role-playing adventure. * "You won't see another RPG in the same style, and as well made and enjoyable as Avernum 6 is." - The Gamer Studio

* "It's the genre flag-bearer for offering substance over flash, and it's an epic finale for a series that deserves respect." - PC Gamer The Castle is a very important location in Avernum 1, 2, 4 and 6.It is located in the Great Cave (in the southern part of Avernum). * Independent RPG of the Year Runner-up, RPG of the Year Runner-up - GameBanshee I think Jeff should sell the Avernum rights when he retires so someone else can do it.* "Avernum VI on the iPad takes the crown of ‘best mobile RPG’ easily" - GearDiary Although lots of people would love to play it it'll never happen. P.S Avernum Online has been discussed before I'm sure. Can't wait for the screenshots next month!!! I kind of agree and I hope this is addressed in A6 since it'll be set in the same caves.Īll the same whatever Jeff does it's bound to be a great game. A lot of people complained when Jeff updated the engine for A4 that without the "outside" Avernum didn't feel as big and epic anymore. I hope it feels as epic as it sounds like it's going to be. I missed being able to do that in A5 and while the linearity of it was good it didnt feel like clasic Avernum gameplay.Ģ.

the ability to roam free in world and just ignore the plot for a bit (like Avernums 1 and 2, and 3 except of course that stuff changed if you messed around for too long in 3). This sounds like it is going to be soooooo epic! I simply can't wait! I think the two things Id most like to see in the game are:ġ. * The final fate of Avernum, it turns out, is something I've been foreshadowing since Exile 2. But, for the first time, you start in the Great Cave. * My favorite trio of wizards, Solberg, Lark, and Gladwell, return. You can see full information about items by mousing over them. The world map will be much more useful, as will quest destination marks on your map. * A bunch of game and system improvements. Haste potions will be full double actions, though, the sort from the older games. Haste is weaker now, and you can have fewer buffs overall. Am I just looking in the wrong place Any help appreciated. I seem to recall he was in Fort Remote, but I cannot locate him. * The buffing system will be very similar to Geneforge 5. A couple of the jobs I've accepted say I should visit Commander Castrone to claim the reward. Being able to play in a window, play at any resolution, etc. * I will use and expand upon all interface improvements from Geneforge 5. All of the icons will be anti-aliased and have shadows, which makes the game look much nicer. (And, of course, the player will make a real difference in this.) Much of the future of Avernum and its place in the world will be settled. Many characters will return, and some of them will get the dramatic ends to their stories they deserve. Where Avernum 4 was about a post-apocalyptic, despairing feel, and Avernum 5 about frontierism, Avernum 6 emphasizes that the world is getting old, while at the same time the mushroom blight ran out a lot of its populace. The storyline is the most detailed and twisty of any Avernum game. Avernum 6 like its predecessors has an overarching tone that is clearly present in writing and location design. (OK, I think it'd be really neat to do a game about the first days of Avernum, like Avernum: Origins, but not until the far future.) I still hope to have the Mac version out for Christmas. I was hoping to release screenshots and more detailed plot information next month, but here is a bit of what's been going on.Īvernum 6 is in full development, and the demo section is almost done. I am finally posting some long overdue information about Avernum 6.
